Through the eye of the camera ...

Image
People have many hobbies, and my hobby is photography. I love it so much. Because with the click of a camera, we can capture beautiful events and memories that we might otherwise forget, and keep them forever as a memory, without letting them fade away. I think photography is a uniquely powerful hobby that is different from other hobbies. I first picked up a camera during my school days. I was also a member of the school's photography society, where our teacher taught us how to properly photograph an object or a scene. Photography has now become an integral part of my life and has grown into a passionate hobby. The school environment was a beautiful place that gave us the opportunity to take photographs for the first time at our school. I never forget to photograph every happy moment in my life, everything aesthetic. I have many photos collected like this. A photographer's eye is a special thing. His or her eye is drawn to aesthetic, attractive things more quickly than the av...

The First Time the Ghungroo Weighed on My Ankles

Image
As a Sri Lankan traditional dancer, I also had a strong passion for Indian traditional dance. That is why I constantly turned to watching Indian Films because of the Indian traditional dances they featured. I fell in love with the dancers in those films and their dance moves. Because of that passion that I had since childhood, I started learning the Indian traditional Kathak dance with the determination that I would reach the top of that dance. The Indian Kathak dance tradition is a classical dance form that originated in the Delhi state of Uttar Pradesh. It is characterized by graceful movements, use of gestures, and complex cycles. After learning and practicing this dance tradition for a while, the teacher determines whether the student is suitable to learn this dance and ties the Ghungroo on ankles. This gives new life to the kathak dance. Luckily, I was lucky enough to tie that precious Ghungroo. It was another unforgettable moment in my dancing life. The moment my Kathak teac...

can one find the strength to go on after losing everything?

Image
" If I Stay " can be considered one of the best and most thought-provoking books I have ever come across in my life. The book is written by Gayle Forman. It talks about the difficult times we face in life and the loss of love. The story follows a 14-year-old girl named Mia and her family who are involved in a car accident. Her entire family, including her younger brother, are killed. However, she survives and ends up in a coma. When she regains consciousness, she discovers that her entire family has died. As Mia faces emotional turmoil, she is forced to decide whether she want to continue living or if she should let go and join her family in death. Throughout the book, Mia talks about her strong relationship with her family and the love she had for them. She also loved music. Her boyfriend, Adam, is also a musician. At the end of this book, the author asks the reader, "can one find the strength to go on after losing everything?" One of the most important lessons f...

Facing challenging times..

Image
People face different challenges at different times. Life is always full of ups and downs. Every human being faces challenging situations, and each challenge gives life a new experience. Nowadays, a large number of young people are even tempted to commit suicide due to their inability to face the challenges in their lives. The majority of them are university students. Therefore, one should not be limited to book knowledge alone but should also have the ability to endure and be positive in the face of challenges, and the ability to cope with them well. We can follow several steps for that. We should always focus on what we can control. It is normal to feel pain and sadness when things are out of our control during difficult times. But we should try to rise above those situations and not dwell on them. We must also build positive mental strength to face reality. And every time you feel discouraged by failure, you should remind yourself again and again why you started. Every time you...

Are people with disabilities unable to pursue their dreams? Can the challenges of life prevent them from pursuing their dreams? Dance is a universal language, an expression of the heart. Everybody has a dance inside of them. But what about a person confined to a wheelchair? Kitty Luna is a ballet and modern dancer. Her uniqueness lies in the fact that she is a dancer with a disability. She founded the dance company Infinite Dance Theatre in 1995, which consists of dancers with and without disabilities. She has expanded the boundaries of dance and developed the art of wheelchair dance. The main reason she turned to dance was when her grandmother took her to see a red-headed ballerina on her eighth birthday. She wanted to be a talented dancer like the dancers there. She was lucky to meet her first teacher at the Paris Opera Ballet. She recognized Kitty's talent and encouraged her to dance. She then moved from New Orleans to the Washington Ballet. There she had the opportunity ...

Happiness is within you...

Image
Don't get tired of chasing happiness, be positive and happiness will follow you. The science of happiness, a branch of positive psychology, explores the factors that contribute to well-being, life satisfaction, and resilience, aiming to understand and cultivate a fulfilling life. Dopamine: Often called the "happy hormone," dopamine results in feelings of well-being. A primary driver of the brain's reward system, it spikes when we experience something pleasurable. What is happiness?  There are many different ways of thinking about happiness. For example, the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle made a distinction between two different kinds of happiness: Hedonic happiness  Eudaimonic happiness Hedonic happiness focuses on pleasure and the avoidance of pain, while eudaimonic happiness emphasizes finding meaning, purpose, and living a fulfilling life through self-actualization and contributing to something larger than oneself. Martin Seligman is a pioneer of Positive...

Dance through artificial intelligence

Image
The art of dance, which has gradually developed over time, has now had a strong impact on the field of dance, as well as on every other field, with technological advancements. As a result, artificial intelligence is currently being applied to the field of dance. Harold Cohen , the world's first AI artist. In his 1973 essay ' Parallel to Perception ', he questioned AI. This refers to how computers work in a way similar to the human mind. 'SHERPA' is called the world's first AI dancer. It was created by the University of Tokyo in 2019. It is designed to learn dance moves from human dancers. It can also analyze dance videos, learn their movements, and recreate them. Currently, AI technology is being used in various dance creations. Here, AI can be used to explore the movements of existing dance creations and create new dance creations. It analyzes movements, rhythms, and styles and comes up with new ideas. AI can also create robot dancers that look like human dan...

Unlocking the Dancer Brain..

Image
A dancer has the ability to instantly understand and control the movements of their body without consciously thinking about them. This is called Kinesthetic awareness or proprioception . This allows a dancer to maintain an intuitive understanding of their body during dance without any hindrance. A key aspect of the dancer brain is an acute sensitivity to rhythm and timing. Adapts to subtle shifts in dynamics and tempo according to music or a certain rhythm. Here, a dancer's brain is active, with the innate ability to not only perform rhythms with music, but also to interpret it in the context of the moods that accompany it at that moment. The dancer has the ability to connect deeply with emotions and has the ability and skill to physically embody those emotions. A dancer has the ability and skill to express emotions such as pain and pleasure through their physical movements in relation to the event being performed in the dance. Dancers have a proper understanding of how to us...

Body Movements Can Speak...

Image
Are words necessary to express thoughts and feelings? Dance can be described as a unique medium that expresses thoughts and emotions through body movements without the use of words. When it comes to the origins of dance, it dates back as far as the beginning of humanity. Here, ancient man obtained his food by hunting animals. They gather their tribesmen in the evening and perform a simulated dance to depict how they hunted animals. Although these dances are limited to rudimentary movements, they use their body movements to express their thoughts and feelings. Because in the past, there was no specific language or communication system, they used body movements as the main means of expressing their thoughts. Although dance has been a medium of body movement since ancient times, it is still used today to express various stories, feelings, and thoughts. Any person can understand the emotions expressed through dance in any country in the world. For example, pain and happiness expresse...

A world without Art ..

Image
“The EARTH without ART is just EH.”   -Demetri Martin- I think to truly understand the importance of art; we need to live for a few minutes in a world where art is completely absent. Even if we achieve great advances in technology and science, if there is no art in it, it will always be a dark world where people live like machines. Art is a universal language that transcends borders and even time. For example, dancing, music, drama, visual art and etc. Art can be described as one of the factors on which human existence depends. Art is so intertwined with human life. Without art, our world would be empty of beauty, creativity, and human expression. Because art is a form of psychotherapy for the individual. A person with a stressed mind, facing various challenges in their daily lives, can heal their mind through art. For example, a person who is busy with daily tasks can soothe their mind by listening to music and watching dance. we will have no culture to proudly proclaim an...

One day , one moment everything changed.

After thirteen years of schooling, everyone's hope is to pass their A/L exams with successfully and enter a government university for higher education. t's been a dream of mine since childhood. But although it is every child's dream, only a very few are lucky enough to have it. I was lucky enough to have it too. The day I was selected for the university, I woke up early and got ready to go to college. Meanwhile, I heard an announcement on television that the cut-off marks for university selection would be released today. At that time, my heart was filled with various emotions such as happiness, anxiety, and fear. As soon as I picked up my mobile during my break after the first semester of college, the first thing I saw was a message sent to my phone from UGC informing me that I had been selected for the University of visual & performing arts. My heart was filled with immense joy. I felt like the luckiest person in the world at that moment. What was even more heartw...
