Happiness is within you...
Don't get tired of chasing happiness, be positive and happiness will follow you.
The science of happiness, a branch of positive psychology, explores the factors that contribute to well-being, life satisfaction, and resilience, aiming to understand and cultivate a fulfilling life.
Dopamine: Often called the "happy hormone," dopamine results in feelings of well-being. A primary driver of the brain's reward system, it spikes when we experience something pleasurable.
What is happiness?
There are many different ways of thinking about happiness. For example, the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle made a distinction between two different kinds of happiness:
- Hedonic happiness
- Eudaimonic happiness
Hedonic happiness focuses on pleasure and the avoidance of pain, while eudaimonic happiness emphasizes finding meaning, purpose, and living a fulfilling life through self-actualization and contributing to something larger than oneself.
Martin Seligman is a pioneer of Positive Psychology. He has used a scientific method to explore happiness through systematic studies of how happy people are.
Happiness is something that people always seek. It is positive emotions and life satisfaction. For this, two main factors must be present.
The balance of emotions:
Everyone should have a balance of emotions. By always keeping your mind positive and not allowing negative emotions to take over, you can maintain happiness in a balanced mind.
Life satisfaction:
One should always be satisfied with the life one has. Some people are not satisfied with anything no matter how much they get. Such people are not satisfied with how much they get and compare their lives with others. They are always unhappy. Therefore, to maintain happiness, one must be satisfied with one's life.
Some keys of happiness:
- Feeling like you are living the life you wanted.
- Going with the flow and a willingness to take life as it comes.
- Feeling that the conditions of your life are good.
- Enjoying positive, healthy relationships with other people.
- Feeling that you have accomplished (or will accomplish) what you want in life.
- Feeling satisfied with your life.
- Feeling positive more than negative.
- Being open to new ideas and experiences.
- Practicing self-care and treating yourself with kindness and compassion.
- Experiencing gratitude.
- Feeling that you are living life with a sense of meaning and purpose.
- Wanting to share your happiness and joy with others.
Happiness cannot be maintained at the same level all the time. Even people with a positive mindset will feel sadness, anger, frustration, boredom, and loneliness from time to time. But they quickly turn their minds back to the positive, hoping that everything will turn out well. Here they focus on key categories such as joy, enthusiasm, gratitude, pride, optimism, and satisfaction.
Happiness leads to positive emotions and good health, and according to scientists, a person with a positive mindset is more likely to survive thirteen years than a negative person. It is also known that a happy person has lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and these benefits persist over time.
All this reveals that happiness lies within oneself and in one's positive thinking. By balancing one's emotions and being satisfied with one's life, one can maintain happiness within oneself forever.
